Baltimore mayor gives rioters approval to destroy. Here’s the background. During a press conference this past Saturday, the mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said, “It’s a very delicate balancing act because while we try to make sure that they (protestors) were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well”.
What? Giving those who wish to destroy — space to do that as well? What country do we live in? This idiotic statement is all the approval evil individuals need to proceed and riot. And they received it from their mayor. Unbelievable.
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake needs to come out now and explain what she is doing to protect those who are law-abiding citizens and yet stuck within the area which is currently under attack.
Charles Krauthammer responded at 6:50 p.m. today and said, ‘there is a total failure of leadership here’.
And he’s right! The mayor spoke insane words and should have said people will have space to exercise their first amendment right — not ‘the space to destroy’. These are two very separate things. Without a doubt, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake should step down immediately from the office of Mayor. Anyone elected to this position should understand the difference between freedom to speak and ‘the space to destroy’. She must be held to account.
At time of this writing, seven officers are in the hospital and one is said to be unresponsive.
Over the past two hours a CVS drug store was totally looted and then set on fire. This was a place of employment for many citizens. And what do they have now? A destroyed drug store thanks to the thugs and evil abounding the impacted area within Baltimore. How many more buildings were destroyed? How many more people will be without a place to work tomorrow?
Major League Baseball just announced a postponement of tonight Orioles vs. White Sox ball game which was scheduled for Camden Park. The safety of citizens must be the first concern and the Oriole organization and Major League Baseball have done the right thing to protect those who would have attended the ballgame.
Earlier today the funeral was held for Freddie Gray, the 25-year old man who died while being under the protection of the police. There is no question the matter of Gray’s death needs to be investigated. The right way. In fact, the Gray family asked the city of Baltimore to not riot and do evil over Freddie’s death. And it worked from his death 8 days ago until earlier this afternoon. Then the evil took over.
More details will emerge over the upcoming hours. We pray the rioters stop and the injured are able to heal quickly. In addition, those participating in the havoc need to be held to account and that includes the origin of the permission to riot, Rawlings-Blake.
